The River Annan is rightly famed for its big salmon and many fish of over 20lb are caught every year. For Sea Trout too, it claims a place in the top Scottish echelons, having been rated at number four in Scotland by the Scottish Office. Just 7 miles inside the Scottish border, it is readily accessible to most centres of population, with London just over 4 hours away.
The Newbie Beat is a much sought after and productive fishery of 2 miles, mostly double bank, and being just above the tide can produce fresh fish in even the lowest of waters. With a full time Ghillie maintaining the river and its banks, and a large hut with full facilities, this is a must for the serious salmon and sea trout angler alike.
